There’s never a dull moment in Krayl Funch’s life — or even two of the same moments, for that matter. Decorating gardens, seasonally-themed interiors and events, after all, is the sort of keep-you-on-your-toes gig that most of us only long for.

“There’s always something new, and new challenges,” says Funch, a Stamford, CT, native who has lived in New Hope for more than a decade. “But it’s always about bringing beauty and detail to people’s lives in many different ways.”

This could mean working to deck a mantle during Christmastime — deferring, of course, to the homeowner’s personal tastes and spiritual connection to the season — or entirely redoing a backyard English garden. Other days, she creates masterful stage displays for corporate events; clients have included the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, Bloomingdale’s and Vera Wang.

It’s clear how much Funch adores this more-than-full-time job, which subtly took hold as friends approached her for informal decorating tips. And while the spirit of collaboration peppers her speech — as in, “I feel people’s homes are their homes and they should have some say in how they live in it” — she pinpoints certain personal tastes. “I love color schemes with green and white — the green of the outside and nature, and how the whites pop against it. And I love orange — I was ahead of the curve!” she says.

To glean inspiration, Funch stays close to home, in search of window box displays with fresh textures and colors. “I’m very passionate,” she says, “about having people realize that there are simple things they can bring into their garden and home that make a huge difference in the way they feel about their surroundings.”
